Katie Humphress, Shadow, Oil 24x48 October 2021

So many layers - palette knife oil. I feel like I captured my son, but the face on my daughter isn't quite right. First time trying new color palette w oils. Some of my paints were the ones I'm used to, but I tried using some cheaper paint and it made my daughter particularly difficult - as the paint dried into a beeswax type consistency. I tried a little too hard to get her face right and to me it looks forced and not quite like her - but I love how the colors and background turned out. This is just cell phone pic, but in real life the texture is really fun. Each stroke is 3D - lots and lot of texture
